Venture Relations Manager Summary
The Venture Relations Manager focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships between BRITE and venture capital funds, angel investor groups, and other financial stakeholders in the clean energy sector. The primary goal is to establish connections between BRITE and these funds, so that there is regular communication and trust between BRITE and the funds to best position portfolio companies seeking capital. This individual has a deep understanding of BRITE clients' fundraising needs and actively engages with firms, funds, and entities that support early-stage energy technology growth. The Venture Relations Manager monitors investor activities, cultivates relationships with new funds and investors, and facilitates introductions between BRITE clients and these funders.

LOCATION: Our organization is headquartered in Warren, OH and serves a vast geography both in-person and virtually. This position is hybrid. It is estimated that this position requires five (5) days of being at in-person gatherings each month at various metropolitan areas, namely across Ohio. Access to a co-working facility may be arranged.

Duties of the Position
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Venture Network Development – 40%
- Build and maintain strong relationships between BRITE and venture capital firms, angel investor groups, corporate venture arms, and other relevant financial stakeholders interested in clean energy technology.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in the venture capital landscape, particularly in clean energy, and share insights with both internal teams and clients.
- Organize and participate in venture-focused events, such as investor pitch days, demo days, and networking events, to showcase BRITE’s portfolio companies and facilitate connections between BRITE and potential investors.
- Act as the primary point of contact for venture partners at the fund level, ensuring that BRITE is consistently engaged with these entities and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
- Track and report on the success of venture relations efforts, including investor engagement and partnership development.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
- Work Closely with Innovation Services and the Startup Programs teams daily and other departments frequently, including Infrastructure Services for external communication development and event coordination.
Qualifications, Education, and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- Preferred five (5) years in venture capital, investment banking, raising capital and/or relationship management or a related field, with a strong focus on clean energy or technology startups.
- Established relationships with venture capital funds, angel investor groups, and financial institutions within the clean energy sector.
Skills & Experience
- Deep understanding of the venture capital landscape and investment trends, particularly in clean energy.
- Knowledge of early-stage investment structures, terminology, and norms.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate the value proposition of BRITE and our portfolio companies to investment funds. It is critical to speak to professional investors about BRITE clients in relevant language.
- Experience working with internal and external teams and partners.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand feedback offered by investors, to share that feedback with the team and clients, and to tailor future communication to maximize engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and data management (CRM).
- Ability to multi-task, independently learn, problem-solve, and work in complex environments.
- Strong commitment to the clean energy transition and a desire to support startups that are driving innovation in this space.

Compensation and Benefits
- To allow BRITE to set salaries based on market data and internal equity, and to ensure fair and equal pay for every role, we offer our best offer first.
